Executive functioning coaching

What is executive functioning?

Executive functioning skills are like the brain's "CEO" skills—they help you manage yourself and get things done. Imagine you're the boss of your own brain, and you need to plan, organize, solve problems, and make decisions. These skills include things like remembering tasks, managing your time, staying focused, and adapting to changes. Just like a good boss, strong executive functioning skills help you work efficiently, stay on top of responsibilities, and handle whatever comes your way.

Skills:

  • Planning and Organization

  • Time Management

  • Initiation and Task Execution

  • Working Memory

  • Self-Monitoring and Reflection

  • Flexibility and Adaptability

  • Problem Solving

  • Emotional Regulation

What is executive functioning coaching?

Executive functioning coaching is a personalized and supportive approach to help individuals enhance their executive functions. Executive functions are cognitive processes that allow us to manage and regulate our thoughts, actions, and emotions to achieve goals.

Coaching involves working with a coach who helps individuals identify their strengths and challenges related to executive functions, such as organization, time management, problem-solving, and decision-making. The coach then collaborates with the individual to develop strategies and skills to improve these areas.

Imagine having a personal guide who helps you navigate through the complexities of daily life, breaking down tasks into manageable steps, creating effective routines, and providing tools to overcome challenges. Executive functioning coaching aims to empower individuals to become more independent, efficient, and successful in various aspects of their lives, whether it's at work, school, or in personal endeavors.

What Does A Coach Do?

An executive functioning coach plays a crucial role in helping students and individuals in the workplace develop and enhance their executive functioning skills. In both student and workplace contexts, executive functioning coaches serve as guides, providing structure, support, and personalized strategies to enhance overall effectiveness and well-being. Their goal is to empower individuals to independently apply these skills in their academic pursuits or professional careers.

Our team of coaches stands out with a unique strength – each one is a certified educator with extensive experience in the field of education. With years of dedicated service, our coaches bring a deep understanding of the diverse needs of students, especially those requiring special support. Their certification ensures that they are well-versed in evidence-based strategies and interventions tailored to address executive functioning challenges. This wealth of educational experience, combined with specialized training, equips our coaches to provide personalized and effective support to individuals seeking to enhance their executive functioning skills.

What To expect

Our journey together kicks off with a deep dive into your priorities and aspirations. It's a chance for you to pinpoint which aspects of your life could benefit from support and how I can best provide that assistance. Building on our initial conversation, we develop a comprehensive plan tailored to help you achieve your goals. Private coaching is a delicate equilibrium between the long-term vision and short-term actions, so we craft a commitment statement to keep you focused on overarching objectives, complemented by specific outcomes and weekly goals to ensure you stay on track with your immediate tasks. Accountability is a crucial element of this process, and the weekly goals and updates play a significant role in maintaining this accountability throughout your journey.

Our initial meeting lasts for 1.5 hours, setting the foundation for our ongoing sessions, each lasting 1 hour. Sessions take place over Zoom or by phone, depending on your preference.

Weekly Check-Ins Every week, whether our meetings are weekly or bi-weekly, you document your reflections in your personal log. This log serves as a dynamic record, allowing you to celebrate successes, share challenges, pose questions, and plan your next steps. It's a living document that aids in integrating valuable insights and staying accountable. I read and respond to your entries each week, fostering an ongoing dialogue to keep you aligned with your commitments and goals, while also understanding how I can offer the best support.

Unlimited Questions Feel free to ask any questions that come to mind. I may guide you in reflecting on your queries, direct you to relevant resources, or share my thoughts. Regardless, coaching is designed to help you navigate uncertainties and find the clarity you seek.
